It Won’t Always Be Raining
When it's been raining for days and days, it's hard to think that tomorrow it might be sunny.
In another chapter of my life, a younger, more stressed-out me, used to step out of her office to sit on a city stoop, plug in her headphones and listen to a five minute meditation like a smoker desperate for a nicotine fix.
Anything to just take the edge off of the overwhelming anxiety inside my body.
In one of my favorites, a soothing British voice would tell me that my emotions are the weather but I am the sky.
It helped me to visualize the tempest inside of me as temporary.
A morphing, moving mass that would eventually pass through me. Like watching a big storm on the doppler radar as it passes over my area and moves on.
