Every trip I’ve ever been on has a thing. An unexpected roadblock. Something that demands to be dealt with before I can go on my merry way.
A missed flight, a bad Airbnb, forgotten pants.
On bigger journeys, the roadblocks are bigger. A missing requirement needed to graduate. A breakup. Getting fired.
These things make me want to stop and sit down. Not so much because the problem is hard to solve, though sometimes it is. But because I lose my sense of knowing the future. Like a big hill, I have to figure out how to climb. There’s no way of knowing what’s on the other side.
